Cordoba Argentina

The province of Cordoba Argentina is located in the central region of the country.  The western half of the province is mountainous with many rivers and streams, while the eastern portion has a relatively flat landscape.

The capital city of the same name was originally the capital of Argentina prior to Buenos Aires.  It is the second largest city in the country and serves as an important commercial center. The city is referred to as La Docta because of it's many universities, and Ciudad de las Campanas, The City of the Bells, because of the many churches built by Dominicans and Franciscans.  Cordoba city lies on the banks of the Rio Primero.

Places of interest to visitors include La  Calera, a resort town on the Rio Suquia where the wealthy citizens from the capital city originally acquired vacation villas.

Capilla del Monte in the Punilla mountains draws tourists to  the strange mist that surrounds Mount Uritorco, rumored to be the landing site of UFO's!  The only "roofed street" in all of South America can be found in Capilla del Monte.  Villa Carlos Paz is a popular tourist destination in Punilla Valley situated on the shores of San Roque Lake, a reservoir created by the Suquia and Cosquin River dams.

The weather in the province is usually sunny and dry most of the year.  The temperatures range between 50-86 Fahrenheit (10-30 Celsius).

Flights and car rental can be arranged in and out of Cordoba's Pajas Blancas International Airport (airport code COR).  You can also find and compare rates on hotel accommodations and package deals to the province.
